Writing using AR...

To help making our writing session (about Go4it's 'balancing') fun, students were introduced to Augmented Reality (AR).

Colouring the picture...

Exploring AR with Quiver...

Students were shown how to take a screenshot and then used 'Write about This' to add their photo and wrote their story...

Fireworks

We focused our writing today on what students learnt yesterday about ways to be safe around fires and fireworks as 'Guy Fawkes Day' is coming up...

Safety Tips:
1. Never touch fireworks
2. Stand well back from a bonfire (students acted this out in a circle with one in the middle acting as the fire...)
This is too close...

A better distance...

3. Never go near a firework after it has been lit
4. Only hold one sparkler at a time
5. Wear gloves when holding a sparkler
6. Keep pets indoors

Students coloured a picture from the 'Quiver' website and used the app to bring their picture to live...

Challenge:
Take a photo of your quiver and save it to the camera roll. Open 'Write About This NZ' and add your photo. Write about being safe around fireworks.

Writing stories about Volcanoes

This term we are busy learning all about volcanoes. We printed the volcano picture from the Quiver website and students coloured it.
They had to take a screenshot and wrote a story about it using their iPads.

Here are some of their stories as published on their ePortfolios.

Augmented Reality using Quiver

The students learnt to use a new App called Quiver. This was a fun way to get them to reflect and talk about their participation in yesterday's Cluster Summer Sports.

After choosing one of the two pictures provided, students coloured it using their favourite colours and then watched as their picture came to life just the way they've coloured it.

Students took a screenshot and published their 'reflections' on their blogs.
