Wacky Hair & Mufti Day

On Friday 21 May we had our first Wacky Hair & Mufti Day in support of the Westpac Annual Chopper Appeal Day.

By way of a gold coin donation, all money raised will be donated to this very worthwhile appeal; you never know when their assistance may be required!

Our Science Experiment

On Tuesday, 18 May, Rooms 1 and 4 did a science experiment together. We had a question that we wanted to answer, our question was: "Is my shadow the same all day long?"
To answer the question we decided to look at a shadow at different times during the day and to see if it stayed the same or changed. To make it a 'fair test' we kept everything the same except for one thing.
Things we kept the same: The person. The place. The way we drew the shadow.
Things we changed: The time we drew the shadow.

Results: At 9:00 there was no sun, so we had no shadows.
At 10:00 Carly's shadow was long.
At 11:00 it was shorter and had moved round.
At 12:00 it was even shorter and had moved round further.
At 1:00 it was the same size as 12:00, but had moved round further.
At 2:00 it was longer again and had moved round some more.

We learned that our shadows change size and position during the day.

Autumn

We are learning about:
- the four seasons of the year: winter, spring, summer and autumn.
- different kind of weather in each season.

We decided to write a Report on Autumn. We also made a pretty
autumn picture.

We invite you to our class to come and look at our cool Report writing.

!!!! - Story Teller - !!!!

30 April

We had a lovely day with an amazing Story Teller!! Wow, she
was good. We enjoyed all the stories and some children could
act out some parts.
And best of all... even Mr Taylor had a part, acting as a
wicked fairy!

Fire Safety Officer visit

On Tuesday, 20 April, we had a visit from Kevin.

We learned:
To call the Fire Service, I dial 111
I tell the Operator I want the Fire, Police, etc
I tell the Fire Service Operator the number and name of my Street
and the Town that I live in.

Have a special meeting place outside our house so that everyone in
my family knows where to meet.
It is very important for you to go to this place as fast as you can
so that your family can see that you are safe.

Fire is not a toy - do not play with it!
