Our Annual Cross Country Race

The students in Room 4 trained hard for our School Cross Country.  They've became fitter and made sure they drank plenty of water.  It was great to see how they've learned to pace themselves to get all the way around the course.

Well done to everyone who've participated and congratulations to the following students for their placings (based on the fastest recorded times)!

Tweeting with @KidsedchatNZ

We had a great time participating in KidsedchatNZ this week. We had four buddies from Room 3 coming to help us tweet. They were new to it too and Ms van der Spuy showed them how to do it.

Here we are:

Road Safety Puppet Show

Room 4 learnt how to cross the road safely, to look both ways and to listen before they walk across. It is not safe to run!  They felt sorry for Poorangi Pukeko as his friend got squashed on the road.

They also saw how Wave got hurt, because he did not wear his seat belt. Room 4 know to make it click and to keep their seat belt on until the car stops.

The Learning Centre

One of the things we like to do on a Monday is going to our Learning Centre.  We go there to look at some books and to get new books.  We can take home two books every week.

Today was a special day as we had Room 5 going with us.

Learning about Inventions

Room 4 is busy learning about inventions.  Here is what they've been doing so far...

What is an invention?

They also went on a 'Technology hunt' and wrote down what they've found:

After listening to the story 'The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch' they used their co-operative learning groups to discuss what they could invent.  A couple of photos of their discussion:
