Kapa Haka

Yesterday it was nice to have Kapa Haka with Matua Grant again.  We were practicing lots of waiata and enjoyed doing the moves.

Kadinsky style art

Whaea Jude (our school's art teacher) did some Kadinsky style art with Room 4.

They learned to:

• Use words to describe shape, circle and square
• Identify warm, cool and primary colours
• Use scissors and glue
• Make two pieces of circle art in the style of Kadinsky

Look at their art.  I think it is just beautiful!  Well done Room 4, I am proud of you!

Our first Buddy Reading

Today was Room 4's first day of Buddy Reading with some of our seniors.

Everyone did a great job of sitting beside their buddy and following the text with their eyes.  When the buddies find a place to sit, they started right away.

I was impressed by the way everyone listened quietly to their buddy and the way they gave their buddy a chance to use their strategies before offering any help.

Junior School Swimming Sports

What a lovely and successful event our Junior School had today with our swimming sports.

Well done to all the students participating in various swimming activities and for doing your best.

A huge thank you to the older students for helping the juniors and for looking after them.

You did us proud!

Swimming practice

We are practicing for our school swimming sports day.  This year we will be participating in lots of things.

We are learning how to kick

We are practicing for the Tug boat race and we like how one of our class buddies used his virtue of 'Patience' while waiting for someone to buddy up with him so he can practice as well.

Harold's visit

We had a visit from Harold and Jude and it was fun.

We talked about how we are all special and that we have to look after ourselves and others.  We watched a story about Harold and his friends in the park and learned about feelings and know we have to use our virtues of  'Respect', 'Friendliness' and 'Kindness'.

We also looked at what our body needs. It needs things like water, food, safety, love, exercise, shelter, washing, sleep, shelter and oxygen.
